Today the main plan is to go to the IMATS, the international makeup artist trade show. When I booked my flight to New York, I was not aware that it is at the same time; a lucky coincidence!
We get up rather late, do some photo retouching of yesterdays shooting and once we are on the streets of New York we are quite hungry. We walk towards Pier 94 where the trade show takes place and discover several great places:
–Gotham West Market: An industrial hall with a colorful selection of food stands: Mexican, Asian, super-healthy food etc. and a bike shop.
-FIKA: a Swedish coffee shop. Great interior design, tasty coffee, delicous food and snacks. Very inspiring. If I lived in New York this would probably be the place to write my blog.
-Casellula: Cheese and Wine: What else does a gourmand need? A tasty selection of cheese from all over the world replenished by matching wines
Finally we arrive the IMATS. Today is the pro-day of the makeup trade show, which means it’s only open to professionals. Other than in London the focus lays more on makeup than on special effects. Very inspiring, I will tell you more about on my agencies blog.
After an outfit change it’s already time for dinner at a legendary place called Keens: a paradise for history-fanatic meat lovers. The house was founded in 1885 and used to be a smokers Club. The walls and ceiling are adorned by over 90’000 pipes; the biggest collection in the US. The room where we dine used to be Theodores Roosevelts private meeting room. What a historic moment.
On the way home we cross Times Square and apparetly inspire a women from Colorado. She wants us to kiss for her picture. Would that ever happen in Switzerland?
