There is only one word to describe today: Rain! Nevertheless, we are full of optimism and thirst for action and just ignore it. Our plan is to walk to the 9/11 memorial via the Ghostbusters fire station. After a good two hours walk towards downtown, we are soaking wet and hungry, but still havn’t arrived. Suddenly this very cosy looking Italian place Girello appears. We take it as a sign and enter. It’s not fancy at all and this makes it special. We order mussels and pizza and it’s probably the best mussels I’ve ever had!
During lunch we look out oft he window and suddenly realize that we are just sitting next to the ghostbusters fire station! Although it is under construction we recognize the typical yellow-red door. So exciting!
We take some pictures there, but it is just too cold to continue our stroll.
The new plan is to feed our passion for art. We take the subway to the MOMA, the museum of modern art.
Initially we are very proud that they’ve sold us student tickets, but just few minutes later we know why: The museum closes in 30 minutes! We take the best out of it and enjoy as much art as we can enjoy in half an hour.
Our dinner place is not really worth to mention, but the after dinner drink place: B Squared. Again great interior design, a very friendly barkeeper lady and the best cocktail I have ever had: Cinco de Drinko: Mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice and jalapeño: a smoked bittersweet spiciness; just what I love.
