The day after Christmas I went downtown and my heart started to beat like crazy! All the red signs telling me that all these pieces I was dreaming of, are waiting for me and are finally affordable. I had to stop my impulse to run into the shops and buy everything. Because I have learnt!
I learnt from past years that bargain shopping is not always good. I usually bought a lot of pieces I thought they were okay-ish, but which in the end just occupied valuable space in my wardrobe room.
Buying at sales I might spend 500 Swiss Francs for one piece I have always wanted plus another 3 pieces which I think are quite ok, for that price, but which I then wear once or twice. If I had bought that one piece I really wanted at a regular price I maybe would have spent only 400 Swisses and would have not filled my wardroom room with inferior bullshit.
Therefore I’ve started to buy the pieces I really want at the regular price and then I usually appreciate them even more. Or if I go for sales shopping, I think in advance what I am looking for and try to focus on that. Obviously it does not always work completely, but I felt that this is the better solution for my wardrobe room, my wallet and me.
I think the essence of inspiring, stylish looks and variety is not necessarily an XXL wardrobe, but passion, imagination and sometimes maybe also a bit of courage to try out new combinations. I would like to show you four looks, with a core piece, a ¾ jeans skirt (from Blanco), combined with two shirts (Zara and Blanco), a sweatshirt by Pull&Bear, sandals by Topshop and Steve Madden and ankle boots also from Steve Madden.
How do you deal with the sales temptations? Please leave me a comment, I am really interested in your sales habits.
