Who is wearing these funky socks? It must be a creative colorful person; isn’t it?
Yes! It is, it’s the Chef of Baltho Restaurant at Hotel Marktgasse in Zurich, Lukas Rüfenacht. He proved to be as creative and colorful as his socks: Two weeks ago I was invited with other bloggers and press to taste literally every single plate of the fall -or nicer – Indian Summer menu. Their philosophy is to reinterpret international classics and combine it in a modern, colorful and healthy way. Their emphasis is to take seasonal and mostly local ingredients and conjure new and unique creations: from “Porcini mushrooms crostini” to “Salmon tataki”, “Bang bang chicken”, “Fried pike-perch with port wine risotto”, “Gâteau au chocolat salé”, “Pavlova” and their world famous apple pie with vanilla ice cream (and much more; the list would be too long if I mentioned every single plate we’ve tasted).
With every course Philip Radakovits introduced a matching wine; I personally was most impressed by the “Orange wine”, a white wine processed like a red one. Delicious!
Thank you again Baltho for this unforgettable lunch and those who don’t know this place yet, I would definitely recommend a visit!
