Ok, once more I take up one of my favorite topics, the refurbishment of our apartment. I will probably mention it another hundred times in upcoming posts, as is it an ongoing and inspiring process. The most recent step we took was replacing our old, big and heavy couch table by one that suits perfectly to our „James Bond Flat“.
I think I never mentioned the „James Bond“ thing, but my boyfriend and I love interior design inspired by former decades, and in the James Bond movies they usually show not only breath-taking architecture, but also amazing interiors. We’ve watched all the James Bond movies chronologically, obviously because they’re legendary, but also to get inspired and to see how the styles, the interior design, the animations, music and gender roles developed over the past decades.
But back to the topic, our James Bond flat, respectively, our perfectly-matching couch table. Why is it perfect? Because we have designed it. We chose exactly the designs, materials and colors that matched to our living-room. You might now think we’ve spent a fortune…we didn’t. First of all, because I was invited to create my own couch table in relation with my blog, i.e. it was a free sample. But even if wasn’t, it would have been more than affordable: our couch table duo would have only costed 212 Swiss Francs, money I would have definitely invested in my living room.
We’ve created it on the platform MYCS. MYCS is a young company founded in Berlin, that works together with small European carpenters workshops with a strong focus on sustainability and eco-friendly materials. The advantage of the European production (apart of supporting regional business) is also the fast delivery. Once you’ve ordered a tailor-made piece, it takes only about three weeks until you get it delivered (for free).

It’s really easy to design your favorite piece, just chose the kind of furniture you want to create, and then for every single detail the shapes, colors and materials. The only difficulty is to decide what you like most of all the available options, but that’s also the fun part of designing your individual piece of furniture.
We are so happy with our new couch table and we already started to design the next piece: a dining table, and this time like regular clients, with no blogger advantages! As soon as it is delivered, we’ll have James and Moneypenny for dinner, but shush…it’s top secret!
