Hey my dear readers!
I was last week a bit more than a day in Milan for some fall/winter17 shows. It was kind of the appetizer for Paris. Jolie Zocchi, Funky Forty and I visited several shows and showrooms and I came back with a suitcase of inspiration.
But usually pictures speak louder than words, therefore I made a youtube video for you, sharing the beautiful designs with you. It’s my first youtube video, and I know it’s far away from professional, but I hope you still enjoy it. If you like it, feel free to put the thumbs up on youtube…
I listed the designers for you, in case you want to learn more about them, they are all linked to their profile:
Grinko, an Italian (-made) label from the Russian Designer Sergei Grinko, founded in 2009. Nice androgyne designs this season dominated by the colors black, blue and wine-red. The models were wearing glasses from the Austrian Label Neubau Eyewear. Sergei Grinko and his (private and business) partner Filippo Cocchetti introduced their twins Emma and Sophia after the show…probably the youngest fashionistas in town!
Angelo Marani is an Italian Brand „made in Italy“ . Warm colors, mixed patterns, patchwork and heavy textiles dominated the runway. I loved the models that presented the Marani Designs, all very special and unique faces! I did not understand quite well, if Angelo Marani died or if he retired, or if he was absent for another reason. But the designer of this collection was his charismatic daughter Giulia who did an amazing job!
Kristina Ti is an Italian brand by designer Cristina Tardito, based in Turin. She travelled the world and came back with beautiful fashion inspirations. Her designs are feminine and determined, and interesting mix, between light patterns, rough and shiny materials, strong greens and subdued autumn colors. She was very original on the shoes, the models wore mainly fakefur-boots and -clogs!
Cristiano Burani, an Italian designer, that founded his label in 2012. Whereas his SS17 collection was very cheerful, the fall winter „new folk remix“ is dominated by dark and warm colors, ethnic influences paired with technology. This collection was full of contrast, for me personally, rather something to look at and getting inspired than something I would wear.
Maryling: The show, where I wanted to talk at least half of the pieces home! An Italian label founded in 2010 addressed to modern independet women!
Anna Kiki, a label founded in 2012 by Chinese designer Anna Yang. The show, designs and models were very „galactic“. Also a show, where I prefer to watch the designs and get inspired than wearing them myself.
Alcoolique is label from Napoli, by designer Rocco Adriano Galluccio, all „made in Italy”. The designs are fanciful and serious in one, with a touch of sensual femininity. I loved every single piece!
Bertoni 1949 started its business 1949 (what a surprise) with a trunk and travel suitcase production. Over the years it developed to a luxury bag brand, which is still family owned. I personally prefer the classic (but still very innovative) designs to the more „punky“ ones with handmade grafitti-style art on it.
Sara Giunti, is a Roman handbag designer that focuses on functionality bearing in mind the aspect of esthetic and design. The collection „the moon made me do it“ is very futuristic, and I think especially the models with no print on are amazing!
My day 1 look consists of my terracotta suede boots from Navyboot, I found at fashion fish, a jeans skirt of a Spanish label that run out of business this year (I am inconsolable), a belt by Tommy Hilfiger, a sweater I’ve stolen from by boyfriend and which we found at Funny’s house of Music in East-Nashville, mi fluffy bomber by Essentiel Antwerp and two bags, one from the Spanish label amichi and an emergency one, I bought in Milano from oviesse.
Day two allowed me only two hours of fashion week, because I had other duties in Zurich in the afternoon. But at least I had time to visit three interesting showrooms:
Casadei, this beautiful shoe brand with it’s patented heel and Cesare Casadei as creative director shone bright at this Fashionweek. Cesare, the son of the founders of Calzaturificio Casadei back in 1958, grew up near Rimini with the shoe design skills running almost through his veins, which is obvious when you look at the stunning creations. Funny fact, Cesare enjoyed his scholar education in Switzerland.
Joshua Sanders was founded by Vittorio Cordella back in 2012. His vision was to create a shoe brand than unites Italian craftmanship with street style of New York: „Heart in New York, made in Italy“. I really like the funny designs, a self ironic approach of fashion with high quality materials.
Vladimiro Gioia founded his label back in 2009. I have to say that I loved half of the new collection and hated the other half. Every non-fury piece is a dream. However, Vladimiro is specialized on fur. And this is a point I just don’t get. Why are there nowadays still so many brands (not only Vladimiro) that include real fur in their new collections? This makes me so sad and angry about the fashion industry! Vladimiro with no fur would be definitely one of my favorite brands at this fashion week.
My day two look is a layering look. I wear my favorite shoes from Dune Black, some fishnet socks, training pants by Pull&Bear, a white blouse by Liebeskind Berlin, which I have found at fashion fish, a waistcoat by Mango, my beloved Kenzo x H&M leather jacket and my new bag from oviesse.
I hope, you had an interesting read and that I was able to introduce you to some new and nice labels. On Friday I am heading to Paris, so there is more to come!
Love,
Jesca Li
All my looks were shot by amazing Jolie Zocchi.
